So yes, it never ends.

It really doesn't. ha.

The first lesson they taught us at Leos, besides trust accounting and ethics and file management and a hooplah of other things is how to deal with lawyer jokes and how NOT to tell people that you are a lawyer by profession. I haven't clearly remembered how to deal with it yet (because I'm half asleep most of the time at 9.30 am lectures - it's better than ALL of the time, still waiting for coffee to take effect!) but I think it has something to do telling people that you're a monk that does good things for money, or something along those lines..

But that said and done... it's nice to be in this circle. It's nice to be able to wake up everyday and go to a place that has very talented people who have been in their jobs for so many years and still dealing with it. oh yes, the ridiculousness of it all.

Do you know that we're the only profession that tells our clients how they can go about complaining against us?!! yes. It's called disclosure form or something like that, that we have to attach at the back of every closing letter and after rendering a bill of costs. Yups.

So for all the years of pain that I'm going to subsequent after, but it's ok because this is MY dream....

Five reasons why you should have studied medicine, instead of law

Taken from Lawyer's Weekly:

01- It's NOT that funny to make jokes about doctors, whereas the rest of the world thinks lawyer jokes are hilarious

02- People still get sick during a recession, but legal services can quickly become a discretionary item (unless of course you've taken on the role as debt collection specialist

03- Driving a seriously expensive car would have been seen as a reflection of your worth to society, instead of just a blatant self-indulgence and indication of your ridiculous salary.

04- Upon graduation you would have received the fancy title of 'Dr' attached to your name, instead of just becoming initials or a code when reporting to billable units. and yes, we can still bill in 6 minute increments.
.
.
.
.
05- When people asked what you do at parties, the declaration that you're a doctor wouldn't have become the conversation stopper that it is when you say you're a lawyer.

Pretty as Pea

Prada zip case in black saffiano leather, US$195

I have a weakness for epi leather (which is about the only type of leather that I'm willing to pay for if I've to buy anything from LV - i make exceptions for the Mahina), or epi leather-ish things and the above, is apparently meant for boys.

But I think it is pretty enough for a girl.

ahhh. lust.

Stylo Milo.

In my free time or when the procrastination monster hits (this usually happens alot!), I like to look at pretty pictures of pretty things. One of them being the countless photos that have been put on Vogue.com showcasing the latest designs of top-notch designers from their Autumn/Winter 2009/10 collections. It's been very pretty. The post before was from Jason Wu (of Michelle Obama's inauguration gown fame) and Thakoon, who has been one of Asia's finest for a couple of years now.

Today, I present the maestro himself, Karl Lagerfield of Chanel:))

This season, there are leather leggings and many different takes on the blazer/coat for winter. As well as layers, lotsa them.

The above is one my favourites:)

OooO... i can so imagine going to work in one of these suits:)

Very classy and laid back, I like these too. ahhh:)

Hee hee. one shouldn't be limited to how many chanel suits they can own!!!!!

I finally figured out the reason why Chanel's so sought after (notwithstanding the fact that it is luxury and it is Chanel). It's black and white. Black and white is timeless and also, it's the only colours that I may be able to wear to work if i'm going home. Then again, I won't complain if I get to wear Chanel suits for work. ahhh. ha.

In any case, I going to have a look see at the other collections soon. And having seen what Jason Wu, Thakoon and Mr. Lagerfield has come up with so far... i can't wait!

Till then though

Happy Sunday:)

Yay for fridays!

Today was a strange day, sorta anyway. It was meant to storm and be rainy and all, but it didn't. In fact, the sun was actually out and in full force. So already, good thing number 1. Then, I discovered a package that on first sight I thought was my imagination that it was addressed to me (quite hard to comprehend that you are Francine Lai staying at this address first thing in the morning when you are all groggy and haven't yet had your first hit of the day). So good thing number 2.

I like parcels see:)

Then when I opened it, quite alot of stuff fell out, shirts i asked for and biscuits (or lollies) that my cousin wanted and last of all..... that. whee. my new, very luxurious, very soft, very warm and very pretty shawl :))) Good thing number 3!!!

The day couldn't have gotten any better but then wait... guess what... Le Petit Gateau had saved their last Kyoto for me!! (well ok not exactly, by coincidence anyway!) but they only made 8 that day and when i went at lunch. there was only one left. Hoorah. Hoorah:)

Good thing number 5 comes in the form of this lovely bottle of sparky grape juice that Wade bought for me. It's from Japan, highly addictive and very yummy! (sitting in my fridge, braving the cold!)

And nothing better to end the day with, other than movie - Ms Becky Bloomwood in Confessions of a shoppingholic.

Now see, who says parcels in the mail can't make a great day even better:)

Not too soon.

hold on tight, don't let go.

Because I'm just beginning to enjoy the ride.

and it's simply too soon to say goodbye.

In other news.....

The designers have launched their autumn and winter 2009/2010 ready to wear collections and the runways have been chock full with pretty darn amazing outfits - paris, milan, new york and london. how exciting:) I've only managed to start looking at the outfits now and I must say every single one's gorgeous. I haven't had time to look at everything YET, but I will... so-on. on one of those days where I don't have to reconcile any accounts, write a plea or prepare a defence and counterclaim. However, I leave you with my favourite pieces from Jason Wu (he designed Michelle Obama's white inauguration dress and has now been interviewed by almost every fashion magazine even VOGUE!) and Thakoon.

I found the perfect dinner dress, the perfect everyday outfit, a work dress and my wedding dress (or well something that I'll definitely consider) in these two alone. I can't wait to see the Chanel and Hermes collection. whoopee.

From Jason Wu

From Thakoon

And oh, all photos from Vogue.com:)

Just in case you don't yet know - i should be coming home SOON (for good!)

whoopee.

What if?

What if I said that I quit. I don't wanna do this anymore...

What if I said, that's it. I'm not happy here. I'm not enjoying it.

What would you say?

Sunday again.

The name of my sofa is 懶惰螽.

Having not looked into my hard disk for the last few weeks since coming back, I realised that my sister very adorably (at least i think she is for all her bouts of temper when she's studying!) decided to name these things, these way:

House: 無子

Bones:骨頭

It's not hard to make me smile despite what everyone thinks:)

and oh, the most exciting thing that happened to my cousin and I today... (just in case i fail to remember to tell you guys tomorrow..) there was this huge spider looking thing on the floor and as we were both so frightened out of our wits, we sucked it up with the vacuum cleaner, I hope it doesn't crawl back out!!
