rain rain go away.

As i told my friend Jaime (not Jamie - two very different people altogether), Melbourne kinda got catapulted right back into the middle of winter with our very rainy, very cold 16 degree day smack back at the end of spring/beginning of summer. Yup, it's been raining and storming and it's really gloomy - makes you feel like all you want to do is sleep in and just spend the rest of the day dreaming about lovely things because it's really too cold to be out there.

But then of course, along comes rachel and rose to the rescue, with good company and amazing amazing coffee to accompany a HUGE breakfast and it chases all the gloom and doom away. I have self diagnosed with S-A-D see, Seasonal Anxiety/Affective Disorder... in any case:

Out came the boots, the coats, the wellies, the brollies, if you really think about it, it reflects the current economic situation - sucky but we might get occasionally a glimmer of sun light. It's about that now... the rain's coming and going and in between spurts of it all the sun comes back out and people curse and swear as they keep their umbrellas once again but i'm sure they're glad the sun's back out. it's all nice when the sun's out.

oh well and shoes...these shoes. my flower shoes - i finally got them for 50 bucks.

They were originally 140 and i refused to spend a penny on them because i'll probably be only amused with them for a little while - but now that they are only 50... what a bargain!:)

What i do every day...

  1. Count the days till I get to fly home.
  2. Count the days till Monday so that a new issue of Grazia will be out.
  3. Check if there any new episodes of anything.
  4. Put another thing into my suitcase.
  5. Go grocery shopping.
  6. Wonder what I'm going to have for lunch/dinner the next day.
  7. Count the hours till my next meal so that when I cook i'll have something to do.
  8. Reflect on my dreams the night before.
  9. Plan on starting my reflective essay.
  10. Contemplate the benefits of exercising.
  11. Decide when it'll be a good time to call my waxing lady.
  12. Wait for my cousin to get home.
  13. Hope that the electricity bill disappears in the mail.
  14. Decide if I want to play the DS whilst in the loo.
  15. Plan Baking trips.
  16. Study my nails to see if they require a new coat of polish.
  17. Go through net-a-porter.
  18. Dream about being a powerful person.
  19. Contemplating about having cake - today i decided that i shall.
  20. Decide when I'll make the next pilgrimage to Springvale.
There's really no reason for me to be here except to make sure that my cousin has a nice home to come home to.

For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never
Never an honest word
Thats when I ruled the world

- Viva La Vida, Coldplay

Haven't quite figured what the lyrics mean.

Oodles of loveliness.

They were THE boyband in their heyday and hey, I still gush when I heard them sing or gush when I put they're really old CD in the music player. They've still got charm, here they are at the TRL final. oooohhh la la la.

and then of course, in this time when I haven't got much better things to do and moping in my PMS symptoms (i.e. chocolate and cookies bring the good back into me), nothing beats the chocolately loveliness with lots and lots of beautiful things from net-a-porter where the editors of the site gives you the new season top 10 things to look out for, including the orange woven bottega veneta clutch and the to-die-for metallic silver miu miu coffer bag. Then of course there's the shoes (the louboutins are pretty this season with some of them doing a re-invention of some really funky miu miu platforms from 2006), the accessories and the clothes.

These are some of my favourites:

Top row (from left to right): Miu Miu Metallic Coffer Bag, Chloe Saskia Small Tote, Fendi F3 Secret Code Bag.
Bottom row (from left to right): Christian Louboutin C'est Moi Shoe Boots, Christian Louboutin Bebe Fusee Slingbacks, Bottega Veneta Tricolour Strappy Sandals.

oh oh oh, take into consideration that it's almost winter, or i think it already is winter in Europe where the fashion legends are.
Of course, nothing beats receiving a surprise present in the mail in a net-a-porter box with tissue, black ribbons and all!! :)

can't wait for this = PS1

It's Proenza Schouler's new bag collection for Spring and I can't wait to see, touch and get my hands on one of these. Slouchy, work-ish, can be used in many ways and it can fit everything. oooh.

Now only if I knew the guys or i was famous.

newfound respect

i decided to do a "Victoria Beckham" i.e. totter around running errands in shoes that aren't flats. And I discovered two things:

1. It's not easy
2. It makes it easier when you try dresses on because well, you have heels to try them on with.

It was fun though. being taller than anyone else. I think heels make you stand up straighter and it gives you a certain presence, makes you walk properly too because well you technically can't drag your feet whilst in them.

Those heels above are a fraction of my collection and i think they add sass to any outfit.

oh yes, I AM that bored. ha.

food for thought.

We cannot change the cards that we are dealt, just how we play the hand.
- Randy Pausch
(Oct. 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008)

and when i forgot.

Honestly, there are times when you forget how lucky you are, because well, it slips you by. and it happens to me alot. so sometimes when that happens and the gloom and doom hits...you look at pretty pictures to remind you that all's not lost and really, there has been worst times...

When all around us
Is falling into waste
When the earth is dying
You cannot be erased
And I don't have to be afraid

- Everlasting, Sonic Flood

and oh, all my Polaroid picture things, pretty huh?

The genius wasn't me, it was all the work of the wonderful creators of

PICNIK

It's a new photo-editing program compatible with Windows/Mac. Best of all, in these tough economic times where you don't want to spend unnecessarily on a photo-editing program with the many available out there, this one's great for free. The tools that are available for free is more than sufficient to satisfy the whims and fancy of writers who likes to post pictures online. It's like well, the online equivalent of comic life for mac-ers!

I though am planning to pay USD 24.95 to upgrade it to the premium version because it's tres amazing!!!

It's completely free and it's everything that I've ever wanted in a photo editing program, so if you've never heard of it, check it out.

Toss-Up

If you had to pick, would you pick the one that is tried and tested and you've already come to the conclusion that it's one of your favourites of all time OR would you pick the new one, the one that's nice and you like??

7 months and counting.

You walked with me
Footprints in the sand
And helped me understand
Where I'm going

You walked with me
When I was all alone
With so much unknown
Along the way

And just when I
I thought I'd lost my way
You gave me strength to carry on
That's when I heard you say

I promise you
I'm always there
When your heart is filled with sorrow
And despair

And I'll carry you
When you need a friend
You'll find my footprints in the sand
When I'm weary
Well I know you'll be there
Cause I can feel you
When you say

- Footprints in the Sand, Leona Lewis

It's a pretty excellent sunday - sundays which are sunny days are the best! It's great to be able to walk around in a tank and shorts with my sunnies on my head and music as my companion. It's even better knowing that after today, I am exactly one month away from home. Makes it wonderful that today's not just another day.

and of course, my very excellent present from the two most important men in my life plus bits and pieces that make it up from everyone else:)

God only knows.

If to distant lands I scatter
If I sail to farthest seas
Would you find and firm and gather 'til I only dwell in Thee?
If I flee from greenest pastures
Would you leave to look for me?
Forfeit glory to come after
'Til I only dwell in Thee

[INSTRUMENTAL]

If my heart has one ambition
If my soul one goal to seek
This my solitary vision 'til I only dwell in Thee
That I only dwell in Thee
'Til I only dwell in Thee

- Brooke Fraser, Hymn

Time.

I've been given the chance to have more time, to have more time than I can possibly imagine - it's one of times when you've got so much free time that you wish you didn't have that much of it. That if it came in bite sized pieces, you'll probably enjoy it more kinda free time.

I've had alot of time to think, alot of time to run, to sleep and just do things that well doesn't require me spending time with anyone besides myself. And sometimes I wonder, whether choosing to do what I did was a wise decision - i couldn't have done an additional subject or just gone out and done something, or well at least not leave myself with nothing but Prof Prac left for the remanding of the semester even if it was 12 credit points worth.

I don't know - with so much time left to think, so far from everyone else that I love back home (and no couz, i do look forward to you coming home from school everyday!), I've come to the conclusion that I'm kinda stuck. Stuck in this place once again, not moving forward at all. Feels like I've got no purpose at all and I don't like to feel this way.

Of course, I'm thankful for every day, thankful for the time I've been given to reflect, to think, to go for runs, to just lay in bed and space out, to speak to him whenever I want...but I haven't been one to like this life where I don't do anything, I only keep looking forward to the future, I make plans for it - I count the days left to Melbourne - every single day I count - count the days left towards leaving Melbourne, towards getting some answer from Leos, - because I can't make plans without anything being certain.

It's strange this place I'm in.

you know what, i can't wait to start work and be a lawyer - the barrister kind.

Wake me up when it's over,
Wake me up when it's done
....
But don't shake me awake,
Don't bend me or I will break,
Come find me somewhere between my dreams,
With the sun on my face.

- Wake me up, Norah Jones
